UNE HEURE TROP TARD (One hour too late)
John Delafose (CD Joe Pite got two women)
Oh, oh, oh ma négresse,
J't'ai d'mandé de pas m'faire.
De pas m'faire d'la misère,
T'as écouté des parents.
T'as écouté tes parents,
Tes cousins qui mangent(??) chez toi.
Comment toi t'es comme ça,
C'est par rapport à tes parents.
T'as écouté tes parents,
Tes cousins qui mangent(??) chez toi.
Comment toi t'es comme ça,
C'est par rapport à tes parents.
Oh, oh, oh ma négresse,
Comment donc que mo j'va faire ?
Un jour à v'nir tu voudras,
Tu voudras t'en r'venir.
Maintenant(??) c'est trop tard,
Comment donc que mo j'va faire ?
Oh, oh, oh ma négresse,
Comment donc que mo j'va faire ?
I have always liked this song. I learned to play it 15 or 20 years ago, but I could not figure out all the lyrics. I have this weird hangup in that I refuse to play a song for which I don't know the lyrics. I know some people fake it phonetically, but I just can't do that.
I can now finish this song and add it to the repertoire. It is very satisfying to tie up loose ends like this.
I love this tune also. I've been playing this with my band for years and always enjoy it. We don't swing it as much as Delafose though.
Thanks for the fresh take at lyrics. I was close on some of it.
