Peer,
this sounds like a 'paid-for' Rosary for somebody who had recently passed.
Weird...Even in ultra Roman Catholic, almost-Mexico San Antonio de Bexar, you don't get this on the radio. Even on the Spanish language stations.
The seemingly unending Hail Mary's are just part of the healing process.
At least for some. For me it's a nap opportunity.
I guess "Boudreaux died, boat and truck for sale".
JB
There's a cd that Floyd's use to sell in Ville Platte over there. It's sort of an instructional on how to say Le chaplet, the rosary in Cajun French. It coulda been what JB said or just was on the DJs hard drive and ended up gettin in the rotation. Either way, it's a beautiful thing to see, them ol ladies sayin a rosary in French all together
The caption reads: "Recited in Cajun French", but in fact they recite these prayers in their usual "standard" French form.
Someone told me once that that's the way old folks used to learn them in Louisiana.
I don't know if they still do this, but for many, many years, Lafayette Catholic Diocese would air the rosary early in the morning before Passe Partout aired on KLFY. Gloria may be airing that.
