Lake Charles Waltz

I've been playing with the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers for a couple of months and they play a song - Lake Charles Waltz.

Version played by a pretty good British fiddler here:

It's pretty easy to play and I've neglected Jolie Blonde to nail it down, since it's something folks play here.

Has anyone run into this song? I can't find anything on it.

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

Several versions : Basins Brothers, Al Berard & Jason Frey, Jo El Sonnier, Harry Choates (1949), Four Aces (1938)
Another song nammed "Lake Charles Waltz" by Anatole Credeur (1929) but different melody

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

Also, not to be confused with the Lake Charles Playboys Waltz:

J’suis icite dans la porte,
Dans la porte de ma maison,
Dans la porte de ma maison, j’vais m’ennuyer.
Moi j’vois pas comment j’va faire,
Moi tout seul dans les misères,
Tu vas voir ton erreur, tu s’ras trop tard.

Moi j’voudrais chère ‘tite fille,
Tu t’en r’viens à la maison,
Tu t’en r’viens, ‘tite fille r’joindre tes enfants.
Mais tout ça que tu m’as fait,
Avec eux y a pas longtemps,
Tu vas voir ton erreur, tu s’ras trop tard.

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

Les Freres Michot, Jennings Playboys, Les Amis Creole

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

Les frères Michot sign Anatole Credeur's version. Les Amis Creole sing another third different version.
I don't know Jennings Playboys. An idea of gift for my birthday !!

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

Anyone know of any on-line versions? I've not been able to find anything.

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

John,
the Mel Bay Cajun Fiddle instruction book has both the sheet music and a CD that includes Lake Charles Waltz. Probably could go to the Mel Bay site or a local fiddle shop and pick up a copy. No accordion, but very well done. I have a feeling that is the source those Blokes used for their You Tube.

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

Marc,

If you could post some lyrics, that would be greatly appreciated. The Oregon Old Time Fiddlers get a huge kick out of me singing french cajun songs.

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

Believe Lake Charles Waltz is an instrumental.

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

The only sung version is by Harry Choates, the melody is a little bit different.

Marc.

Re: Lake Charles Waltz

John, if you want MP3 copy, send your e-adress.
