October 2014 Song of the Month - Ossun 2-step

September seemed to go well - at least for me. I got the Church Point Breakdown under the fingers.

Time for another 2-step. The Ossun 2-step. Man.. this is a cool driving song that just goes and goes.

There are a goodly number of recordings of it on Youtube:

Bryan Lafleur does a good one with good video on the buttons

Marc Savoy tears it up

Search Youtube. There are a lot of versions out there. There it is. Lets see what yall got. And now... I gotta learn it.

Oh, you know very well who that anonymous one is, watch the fingers.

Here is an awesome one from one of my favorite players and heck of a nice guy, Eric O'blanc.

Re: October 2014 Song of the Month - Ossun 2-step

Sorry I haven't been posting, John - we're trying to sell our house and move, and life has been too hectic to steal the time for it. I've missed so many SOM's now (I've been playing every one of them, just haven't posted any - yet), I decided to get a jump on this one; that, and I had a little window of opportunity pop up. Plus, I'd already been attempting this one before you called it.

Re: October 2014 Song of the Month - Ossun 2-step

Ha! Just realized that the 3rd link you listed at the start of this thread is me! I still don't remember posting it, and I don't know where that "Accordion Fool" title came from . . . I suspect my wife has been fooling around on the computer . . .

Oh well, I guess I can compare and see if it's gotten any better or worse . . .

Re: October 2014 Song of the Month - Ossun 2-step

I think you play much better when in the Jumpsuit!

Re: October 2014 Song of the Month - Ossun 2-step

I was wearing a jumpsuit in both - so both must be best!

Re: October 2014 Song of the Month - Ossun 2-step

It ís Ex aequo.
But both are very usefull for anybody who want to learn playing the accordion.
Is this song also a part of Lawrence Walker Medley ?

At link2 a version from Brett Thibodeaux.

Re: October 2014 Song of the Month - Ossun 2-step

Now... that is an idea. Do all three and culminate in the Walker Medley!!

Nice job on Ossun, Jamey. I was wondering where you were.

Re: October 2014 Song of the Month - Ossun 2-step

I've always loved this song, hope to have a version up. Meanwhile, just learned of Cameron Dupuy, link #1.

By the way, no mirrors were harmed in the making of this video.
