Re: So Oregon

Thanks...
Eugene would be considered Central and a two hour drive north of what is considered "So Oregon" (AKA The State of Jefferson).

Does he play only the box or other instruments and does he play mainly Cajun.

I have some friends in Eugene.. I'll see if they know (of) him.

Thanks

Re: So Oregon

He's been playing fiddle and banjo, old timey style, since shortly after the Earth cooled, and he's a humdinger at it. He's bringing that same talent to Cajun accordion and Cajun singing, doing great, IMO. And he's a super nice guy.

Re: So Oregon

I've put out the feelers..
I'd like to see/hear him play.

Couple hours is not so far.

Thanks

Re: So Oregon

I'm also here in Eugene. I met Bob a couple years ago at Balfa. Heck of a guy but haven't been able to keep up with him here - oddly enough.

There isn't a whole lot of Cajun music in Oregon. I've hooked up with the Old Time Fiddlers Association and play with them at the friday jams. Slowly getting them turned on to Cajun music.

Where are you at?

John in Oregon.

Re: So Oregon

Williams, So of Grants Pass... west of Medford.

Used to be a Cajun group in Ashland called the Agin' Cajuns.. but the principal player, who played the box and fiddle, moved up to Wash. State.

Re: So Oregon

Well then. We gotta get together and play some music. I can fly on down on a nice weekend and play some. Send me an email.

Sorry for the obfuscation, but... well.. the spam...

Re: So Oregon

My reply didn't make it first time I guess.

There are two guys that I know of from that region here. Both post on occasion. I'll be in Jacksonville OR -- just north of Ashland -- two years form 10/9, the day I plan on retiring from my job. Great country up there, beautiful scenery, lots of music and wine that is A+.

Re: So Oregon

I live in Williams..at the South end of Applegate Valley.. Oregon's true "wine country"
(hopefully it won't get yuppified like NAPA which caused me to vacate in the mid 680's)

I bought a house in Jacksonville last Feb/March.

I won't be moving in for a couple years when I get old and decrepit like Quinn : ).

I need to get some Cajun accordeon skills so would welcome any "intrusion" into the State of Jefferson..

Anyone who wants to visit the area..
you are welcome to bunk down here.

11 1/2 acres....

Re: So Oregon

Seeing Williams on the Google Map, I know where the good weed is grown. You got a bunch there! Looks like Willits or Garberville...

Re: So Oregon

This is a F A C T

Williams 97544 has the highest number of growers per capita of any Zip code in America.
