The song "Lache pas la patate" was one of my earliest memories of cajun music when I was young and traveling with the family on the radio controlled airplane contest circuit through the south.

I've not found it played on an accordion. Does anyone do this song?

Kyle Huval and the Dixie Club Ramblers' album titled Le Poteau de Coin has an accordion driven version. The entire album is worth buying for some good real cajun music. See link #1.

Agreed. Brandon Moreau on the vocals/fiddle. Also the Acadian Cajun Band album All Night Long and his self titled all worth getting.
