Song of the Month for February 2015 - Les Flammes d'Enfer
The Yellow Book indicates that this song was recorded by Austin Pitre and then bumped up a bit by Aldus Roger but that the tune has been around for quite a while. There are tons of versions out there with a wide range of tempo. A versatile song.
This is a solid jam song to have in ones repertoir and has been done as SOTM - just not recently. So.. time to revisit and it's coming up on Mardi Gras. Perhaps approproate.
Once again, Brett Thibodeaux has a great primer for the sing. A good start.
The Lawtell Playboys do a version that has a great old raw feel to me.
Then, of course, Jo-El Sonnier takes it up way too many knotches....
This one of the Cajun Roosters over on the other side of the pond is fun. Steve Riley and Kevin Wimmer sit in. It devolves a bit, but is fun.
I sure hope that our more accomplished folks will take a moment and show how they do it.
There it is... another song of the month. It's been done a lot, but there is a reason... It's a great song.

I also like this version from a band from UK:
I like this kind of accordion improv version that I am unable to reproduce yet .
I already play this tune in a very simple way with just 1 or 2 licks I add from an Steve Riley version if I well remember. May I post it later but I am waiting for accomplish players posts in order to extract other licks idea to add ;)
Edit: an other lesson from Sean Vidrine I found on youtube for whom need it:

This is one my favorite version of Les Flammes, it is Hadley Fontenot playing with the Balfa's in NYC. #2

THen here is one I recorded of one of Hadley's proteges, Cory McCauley, which may be my favorite version of any, I just hate I missed the first part, I had recorded the whole show and thought they were done, then they started this.

Don, kudos for breaking the ice. I'm close, but still a little timid! This is one of those "easy" songs that for various reasons can be difficult, as evidenced by the lack of participation by the group.
Your B part is much better than the A. Don't be afraid to back up and attack your weakest point and beat it into submission. There is no greater satisfaction than having slain the dragon after a significant investment of time and effort in the victory.

Thank you for the encouragement Ned. I too was timid but figured it was OK to put it out there. The good constructive words from others with the same experiences is always helpful. Much appreciated.
