Just want to say hello

Hello,

My name is Mike from Ottawa,Ontario, Canada. My wife and I visited my parents in Panama City Beach FLA last March and did a side trip to New Orleans. We ate at Mulates in town and met Lee Benoit. I fell in love with Cajun music and especially the Cajun accordion. Last October I finally purchased a Hohner 114 in Toronto and have been playing ever since. I bought Dirk Powells first cd and did pretty well on that. I also learned "The back door" and "Midland Two Step" from Big Nick.

Being franco-Ontarien (French speaking from eastern Ontario, CA) I really can appreciate to flavor of Cajun music. I hope I can spread some of your culture here.

Bryan,
My band, Cher La-Bas, will be playing at the Brazos Valley Cajun Fest on Saturday, March 7, from 7:00 to 9:00PM (Probably 'til 10:00)at the Brazos Center, 3232 Briarcrest in Bryan. Bring a C or D accordion, plug in and play a few with us. Want you to sing, as well!

Re: Just want to say hello

A little far from Ottawa but hey... I would like to go back to Louisiana and your not far away. Seems like San Antonio, Dallas and Houston are all close by. Never been to Texas. I really enjoyed going New Orleans last year. We had so much fun. Next time, I want to see much more than just the Big Easy.
