Re: Mamou characters

Pascal Fusilier looking on approvingly. Great pick. Wish there was audio. Dad would probably know the other tit fer player.

Re: Mamou characters

Great picture, Ambrose Thibodeaux is one of my favorite accordionists
And I thought that I invented the twin-tit-fer band, but I didn't.

Manuel's Bar, Across street from Fred Tate's

I asked my friend Richard Deshotels of Mamou if he recognized the location of this picture. The Louisiana Folklife caption said 1966 from Fred's Lounge but that was clearly not correct. Fred's didn't look like that. He said it was Manuel's Bar, across the street. But he didn't remember the name of the man standing playing 'tit fer. Bryan, can you ask your dad?

If you haven't seen Richard Deshotels' YouTube videos of the history of Mamou and surrounding area, you might like them. Start here:

Re: Manuel's Bar, Across street from Fred Tate's

Neal, I'm glad that you cleared up the location, I was having trouble placing that scene at Fred's. I'msorry, but not able to ID the man playing the 'tit fer.

Re: Manuel's Bar, Across street from Fred Tate's

Dad, who's the guy standing between that t-fer player and Preston, with his arms crossed. He looks familiar.

Re: Manuel's Bar, Across street from Fred Tate's

Bryan, I recognize this guy, and a couple others in the background, but danged if I can come up with their names.

Re: Manuel's Bar, Across street from Fred Tate's

Bryan, after studying the picture for a while, my best guess is that he is Roy Fuselier's brother, Nat "Chunk" Fuselier.

Re: Manuel's Bar, Across street from Fred Tate's

I was told that Roy had a brother who was an even better player than Roy.

Re: Manuel's Bar, Across street from Fred Tate's

Didn't know that. By the way, I checked with Don Fuselier, that guy is not Nat "Chunk" Fuselier and doesn't recognize him.

Re: Manuel's Bar, Across street from Fred Tate's

Thanks for the followups, Mr. Dowell and Bryan!

Re: Manuel's Bar, Across street from Fred Tate's

Not over yet Neal, I have a couple of other people that can possibly ID them to check with.
