Re: Song of the Month for July 2015 - Mamou Two-Step - AJ???
Here we are John, picked up an old 1926 philly grand prix in VGC. It has no low bank (yet) but I'm in Hohner heaven with it!
Good job Ned. A fun tune to play so have a go.
Re: Song of the Month for July 2015 - Mamou Two-Step
Well, it just worked out that I had a little free time, two months in a row, for the Song of the Month Challenge. I did two versions. The first one fairly slow and simplified. The second one, a little faster. I don't ever play this song, and probably don't play it right, but here it is.
Re: Song of the Month for July 2015 - Mamou Two-Step
Thanks John, this old hohner is quieter than a 114 but the treble reeds have a fruity character- perhaps more sustain, I dunno- old n wonky anyways. Looking forward to having it tuned.
Ganey- thats absolute magic! Really glad you found time and hope the albums goin well.
Re: Song of the Month for July 2015 - Mamou Two-Step
Hello Ganey,
what key accordion are you playing in this slowed down lesson for the Mamou Two-Step? I have a “C” to play on and I can’t always get the sound like your recording has. Thanks.
Don

Love it Bryan! Fast and playful- you've really brought out the fun the tune, those bouncing runs just keep it moving and that Hohner sounds great. Only wish I lived closer so I could hand you my latest hohner to work on.
Re: Song of the Month for July 2015 - Mamou Two-Step
Thanks, Peer, but what is a heavy second beat?
AJ, Not really much you can do with those very old Hohners, but they do sound good, especially the base side. Nice playing, and as usual, very nice beat.
Re: Song of the Month for July 2015 - Mamou Two-Step
Hi AJ, thanks for the kind encouragements,
you're right, chords moves problems, then everything else turns bad.
Although I'm not happy with this take, it reflects unfortunately
the harsh reality of where I am at this moment present with Mamou Two Step in one month, it's the game.
It may illustrate the "what not to do"
