This may be obvious to people who live in SW Louisiana, but can anyone tell me why the singer of Reno Waltz would have to agree to go to Grand Gueydan? Is he being forced against his will? I'd love to know what it means.

Sounds like if only he could die in his sweetheart's arms and ask her for forgiveness, then he'd be willing to go to Gueydan. That must be where she lives.

Otherwise, he's not willing!
