Easy songs to play in C/D on fiddle

I'm trying to start learning to play in C/D (tuned down/up) on the fiddle.

I learned Jai Passe from Al Berard years ago. I'd need to refresh that. Can anybody suggest a list of songs in C/D possibly from easier to a little harder?

Trying Mon Chere Bebe Creole right now, and it's throwing me slightly, and want to back up a little.

Thanks.

Re: Easy songs to play in C/D on fiddle

As a part-time fiddler, I would say that any tune or song played on the Cajun accordion in the first position suits fiddling in D (standard tuning) or in C (standard tuning, tuned down one note).

Songs that are played in the second position on accordion suit the key of A better (or key of G when the fiddle is tuned one note down).

So Ma Chère Bébé Creole should in my opinion be played in G or A.
J'ai passé devant ta Porte in D or C.
And so on! Good luck!

Mon Chere Bebe Creole is done in C by Savoy Doucet. There may be two songs with similar names though. The one I'm referring to is a waltz.k9Nhat

Maybe you can use the vids from rubboarder.
There are three vids:
Link#2 gives an explanation how to play chords.
Link#3 is J'ai passe in C and there's also a version in G

You are right. On a YT clip I saw/heard Denus McGee play Mon Chere Bébé in D (or C if you like). So I guess that we can conclude that there are no rules at all.
