Re: Junior Martin's original Savoy/Acadian accordion
Thanks,
I have called and talked to his daughter Penneye who gave
me background on this very special accordion. She explained
that it was the accordion that Mr. Martin used to model his
own accordions after when he first began building...
He was forced to sell it after a some personal hard times.
She was emotionally very happy the accordion is still alive
and well.
It is difficult to say goodbye to this one-of-a-kind accordion.
It has such such a beautiful growling tone, volume, and velvet
action, but... I am so happy it will be back in
the hands of its original owner and his family. He is truly a
master builder and craftsman. I also have a red Martin accordion
that is superb with huge volume, so I understand his talent.
I will be taking lots of pictures of this Acadian with Junior's
name before returning it to its rightful owners.
I'll post a few on here in the future.
Re: Junior Martin's original Savoy/Acadian accordion
Here are pics of this incredible Acadian that I returned to Junior Martin through his daughter Penneye. It is the prettiest flame maple box I have
ever seen and sings like an angel when played. Penney thought it likely had Antonelli (SP?) reeds. I was proud to have owned it for a while. It has returned now to its rightful owner.
