Re: Duson, La Valse re Bayou Chene, Dimanche Apri-Midi same?

Wow! Thank you WF for that detailed reply. I appreciate you going to such lengths in explaining it.

I'll add St. Landry waltz to the list.

Hey Don, The above link is for a video on you tube that was posted a long time ago here on Bravenet by Bryan Lafleur. Just type in "Isom Fontenot" in the Bravenet search window and its easy to find. It's an interview and session of Isom Fontenot, and in that interview towards the end he plays La Valse Dimanche Apres Midi and they talk about it. Then he sings it and plays again. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

And yes, you are correct! La Valse de Duson Jamie Bergeron, Wayne Toups' "melody acoustic" La Valse de Bayou Chene, and La Valse de Dimanche Apres Midi are all either very similar or actually the same dam song.

WF nailed it on his explanation I thought! Funny how so many of these Cajun songs can be found within one another or to have affected the outcome of other songs.

Patterns man! Patterns! Learning the accordion and the fiddle have to do with the learning and mastery of patterns and how hard the need to know of those patterns pulls on you!

Some smart guys said "Peace of mind comes to you when you learn to recognize and apply the patterns of anything that demands your attention!" "For that which you choose to pay attention to, even playing the accordion, you will eventually become aware of, ALWAYS!" "Awareness can lead to mediocre understanding or it can lead to Mastery" depends on the dedication level and circumstances of the individual.

The patterns are interchangeable sometimes amongst songs.
Depends on the point of view or circumstances of the player that goes and renames the related song and confuses the living hell out of the rest of us folks that have no way of relating to said point of view! That is until we begin to "pay attention". Go in peace grass hopper. LOL

Big Nick, what the hell did I tell you about fixing these got dam useless LinK boxes? That pictured computer link below right there below is useless man! Dereliction of Duty is a pretty serious offense my friend! Unless of course I'm doing something wrong....but I seriously doubt that, lol.

Re: Duson, La Valse re Bayou Chene, Dimanche Apri-Midi same?

With link#2 you can look and listen to the video.
If you want to let the link work properly, you only have to copy the link with www. ------- and without the http:// or https://
If somebody clicks the link , they put automaticly http before the www.
If you include the http in the link, there are two http's before the www. and that doesn't work.
Big Nick can't help it

Thanks for your comment Greezy about the patterns
The longer I try to play the closer I'm coming in knowing the patterns, but I have a long way to go.
It's a bit similar in picking dobro or 5 string banjo which also is a matter of learning rolls which are patterns to.
Love this forum

Re: Duson, La Valse re Bayou Chene, Dimanche Apri-Midi same?

Aw thanks Meloderon. So I was doing something wrong after all. So the 2nd link works! and take off the http//s. That's messed up. It goes against all logic and common sense. But doesn't the design of the internet do that very thing? Dam nerds, they are so smart but lack in common sense to accommodate the knuckle draggers like myself.

Re: Duson, La Valse re Bayou Chene, Dimanche Apri-Midi same?

The nerds have no patterns
At another forum/website you have to include HTTP
We all can't help it
