Sounds very familiar as Dance a John Poullard or the Poullard Special
CREOLE BELLE & Andrew CARRIER
title : L'homme Cajun travaille si dur
CD "Cajun and Creole" Arhoolie 535
Thanks y'all for the detective work.
Marc, can you hear what Andrew sings in the vid I posted?
Yes I hear the video, but it's Creole French, not Cajun French. It's more difficult.
As far as I can hear , he's singing the same lyrics as he does on the CD.
But it's still Creole French
Yes Ron, on the CD Andrew sings the same lyrics, but 2 times, the song is longer (2:11).
Can anybody transcribe the Creole French on this forum ?
Not very easy to understand, but I'll have a try. Others will perhaps be able to fill in the blanks or correct what I hear.
(Maybe it's all wrong ).
R'gardez, r'gardez donc ma maison
Tous les jours j'ai travaillé
Tu peux [...] ça pour tous les jours
J'ai pris pour [...] pour être [éli?].
Cadien, cadien dans la Louisiane,
Tous les jours, il travaillait
Il fait ses jobs tous les jours
Il prie pour bon dieu pour aider-lui
Hope this helps
Now that you wrote it, yes I can hear that now! Mine WAS all wrong! (Big Nick, if you can delete it, please do it. It's no use now).
Jordy has magic ears, for sure.
I'm impressed. Thanks Jordy and all for chiming in.
