Robert Bertrand

Robert Bertrand is one of my favorite Cajun singers, and always thought he only played drums. But a guy just told me he was also played accordion and was a really good fiddle player. Anyone verify that?

Re: Robert Bertrand

Comment les haricot Bryan. Robert Bertrand was a good fiddle player and a great singer. He recorded quite a few songs on the Goldband label. Robert sung and played the fiddle while either Nolan Cormier or Irving Lejeune on the accordion. Marc Savoy played accordion with Robert. He passed on much too young.
Robert LeBlanc

Re: Robert Bertrand

Robert also recorded with Nathan Abshire, Phil Menard, Geno Thibodeaux, Joel Sonnier. I've always loved his fiddle style.

John

Re: Robert Bertrand

Thanks, John and Robert. How old was he when he died?

Re: Robert Bertrand

I believe Robert Bertrand died in his forties, not real sure. As the story goes, he died from complications from an abscessed tooth. He was one of the great singers during the fifties and sixties.

Re: Robert Bertrand

He was 36 when he died. Way too young.
