Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

Good point, Peer. Other genres sometimes have a stop just to take out a certain octave. I made a 3 reed (LMM) box for a Polish player that only had one stop to take out the Low.

Neal....piano?? No!!!

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

Piano/accordion in La Cajun music. How about Savoy Family Cajun Band with Will on piano and Marc on accordion. Amazing how much ‘in the style’ Will plays. Of course, it’s a digital piano.

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

I believe the accordion was made by Marcel Messervier. His son has now taken over the business.

The stops are likely for the low reed and the piccolo reed.
The Quebec builders are also known to install "dummy" stops.. 2 or 4.

It is not a 2 reed accordeon.. you can hear all four reeds... and though some do make 2 reed boxes, they are slightly smaller. The reeds would be MM.

Here's another video after she went "butch"...

Note these are accordeons (the correct spelling) not accordIons.

And the box is Quebecois, not Quebecoise..she is Quebequoise (I think)

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

Here is Raynald Ouellet ( founder of ACCORDEONS MELODIE) and Marcel Messervier playing Messervier ACCORDEONS

Note the "stops"................... "registre"

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

Ahhhh mah chere Marie Jeanne Brousseau or could that be a knockoff of Broussard?
She's like the Steve Riley of Canadian Accordion Players! Incidently, I think Steve Riley is the "Donnie Osmond" of Cajun Accordion Players. LOL. Watch Steve and Donnie Osmond and you'll see exactly what I'm talkin about. A white people's hero. LOL. No disrespect Steve:innocent:

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

I seen what Greezy meant. I guess Steve has a sister that lost 55 pounds on nutrisystem?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

Broussard for sure.. but there is a better 15 button by Sagne.

I like the comparison to Donny..: )

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

She can't use her left hand. not interesting...

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

I think you'll find that many if not most Quebcoise accordeon players either don't play the bass side notes or play them sparingly.

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

It's a feminine accordyun so that is why I use "Quebecoise." I thought you knew that... Neener-Neener-Neener...

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

Pray tell, you found that out how ????????

There are some absolutely kick axe female players in Quebec....

An old saying in Sweden: " If you see four men walking down the street, five of them play the fiddle"

In Quebec: " If you see four people walking down the street, five of them play Accordeon. "

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

My Texas Polish buddy always "All Polacks play fiddle, most shouldn't".

Let's Polka !.

Good one !

Can we also say that American immigrant Ethnic Germans from Russia should not play accordeon (Lawrence Welk) ? : )

Look on Wikipedia for his bio.. impressive.. more-so than his accordeon playing.
We can thank him for causing the accordeon to be a mocked as a much maligned instrument. Thank you Mr. Welk.

BTW.. the POLKA was not a product of Poles but of Bohemians. Bohemians invented the POLKA.. Fact.
My GGF was an immigrant from Salnau, Bohemia, Austria. (German speaking Czech) . Came to the US in 1883. He is on the Pioneer Register of the State of Washington. He played the accordeon. I have it and play it. 2 1/2 row.. keys of D/G and six bass buttons. Made in Switzerland between 1915 and 1920.

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...

And the joints on the Messervier boxes are miters! :P

Re: Nice Quebecoise accordion on youtube...
