The Illusive Aldus Roger Captured on 59 Minutes of Film!
Well folks, grab your "C" accordion, a six pack of Schlitz, then sit back and relax. I'm sure there's a song or two in this video that you can use. It's all on a "C" accordion. Thanks to Travis Matte for posting this video. Travis, you've finally made up for having recorded that "Vibrator Song". I think I can forgive you now. Maybe..... At 25:24 you're actually going to hear Aldus speak! LOL

Mais Jerry, how come you never posted it publically? It would have been nice to have 8 years ago. All this time we've been offered bits and pieces of it on Ewe Toob. The big picture was held from us. Funny how when we only get small amounts of information instead of the big picture, our minds tend to create points of view that are not all together accurate and even somewhat fantansical. We create villains and heroes and stretch reality, or we even dismiss very important events and/or people because we didn't get the full picture.
Look at Aldus, he's got it made! All he has to do is play that accordion. He's just part of the band, and not the whole got dam band! He pulls off greatness with little effort because everyone is doing their part to elevate him to greatness. Didn't they even forget to introduce the fiddle player? It was all about the front man Aldus. There were other Cajun accordion players at the time that could play just as good or better than Aldus, yet they were never "elevated to greatness", because they didn't have the means, nor did they get a break, nor were they "chosen" . It is good to see Aldus as an approachable regular ole Cajun instead of this great folk hero that the public and the music business made him out to be. I used to jam right along side of Aldus at one time. That's the Aldus I knew. Very simple and quite man almost at the end of his years, playing the accordion in a way that was not as great as his legend was. He didn't have his band and all he had were the other jammers. His playing sounded like everyone else. He was just like one of us low life wanna bees. Yet he was given and still holds the title of "The King of the Accordion".
More and more, the more years I stack under my belt, I find that "Truth" is pretty much an impossibility and unachievable. As long as we have fools amongst us whose perception is short sighted because of ignorance and those that are willing and capable of manipulating that ignorance, "Truth" and "Reality" shall elude the human race. Do you feel what I'm sayin Jerr?

I also have Wayne Toups before his zyde/Cajun crap Jimmy Breaux when he was 16, Sheryl Cormier when she first strand Johnny Sonier from around 84. I shared some of them with a few people on this site but they turned out to be *******s

Man, I'd love to have access to that old footage! Remind me what the name of this show was, please? I remember always having it on on Saturday afternoons when I was growing up. They should re-run those shows!

I knew a guy from Rayne who said his dad used to take him to see the Happy Fats radio show on Saturday which was staged at the lumber yard in Scott. He saw Aldus Roger there once and likened him to Elvis for his popularity in the Cajun community.
