New learner. 0 experience

Komo yé. I have a single row c accoordian. I have no teacher and have been fiddling around with it trying to play nursery rhymes and such. I grew up in LA my whole.life and recently moved to Tyler tx. Can anyone advise the best way for me to learn?!. In school I played low brass so I do have an understanding of music, but this a a whole different beast..mesi!!

I’m a noob as well. I’ve been using the book from Larry and mike Miller. You can find it online https://www.amazon.com/Play-Cajun-Accordion-Designed-Beginners/dp/0961424591 I’ve seen it cheeper elsewhere. It comes with a cd to hear the music as well.

I’ve also been able to find a dvd set at my local library called “learn to play cajon accordion” by Dirk Powell.

Re: New learner. 0 experience

Hey Aharon read this........not very long ago I grew the balls to label my accordion with it's push and pull notes with a permanent marker. It has been a very rapid and interesting journey since then. I've learned more in one year than I did in 25. Label THE FINGER FLAPPERS OF Your Got Dam Accordions!

C Accordion Top to Bottom
Push Pull
E G
G B
C D
E F
G A
C B
E D
G F
C A
E B

Check out the first link for Cajun music to listen to. If you use an actual computer to visit this website, you'll see way more details to help you along. Use a got dam cellphone and you lose half of what's available on the public playlist.

Re: New learner. 0 experience

Tboy??! There's not too many places on earth that a feller can get a nick name like Tboy. Where you from? North of Hwy 14 or South of Hwy 14? East or West of Kaplan?

Randy I’d love to get some. Don’t see an email address listed for you. I’ve added mine so you can send them there if you would.

Much appreciated.

Tboy came as a nickname some called me back when. T in my name and came form the book “Tboy the little cajun” if anyone remembers that one.
