Jo-EL Sonnier "Church Point Breakdown" - 1968

A short clip from the film "Les Acadiens de la Dispersion" released in 1968. Jo-El Sonnier on accordion and vocals. Andrus "Uncle Ambrose" Thibodeaux on fiddle. Smilin' Jack Leblanc on guitar. Believed to have been filmed in Abbeville, LA.

Entire film can be found at ONF (National Film Board of Canada) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaGf1kA590U

That looked like Abbeville alright. Looked like the Bank of Abbeville across from Madgdalen Square where the Dairy Festival fais do do would have taken place.

Deeper into the whole video Wade linked to I heard a little speech by Roy Theriot, a Vermilion parish pol who was the organizer of our Dairy Festival in Abbeville where I was born and went to school. Wish I recognized which schools' marching bands were there and who were the waving beauties on the floats! One segment has some scenes of men from Meaux with their cattle, then sitting around listening to the French tv host, but I don't remember their names.
