Festival Acadien Waltz

Does anyone know the PLB lyrics to this song? I have them, but I think that some corrections need to be made.

Oh, mes chers amis
Venez nous rejoindre, à Pont Breaux
Au Festival des Acadiens
Aiou les Cadiens, vient pour s'amuser

Oh, mes chers amis
Venez nous rejoindre, tout çe pas
Il y a plus belle place, dans la Louisiane
Au Festival des Acadiens

Re: Festival Acadien Waltz

At the place of "Breaux" I hear something like "vieux long"

A pont vieux long

Maybe the same as the long point two step, were also is a bridge ?????

Re: Festival Acadien Waltz

Thank you, Meloderon. You've been a big help this past month. Are there any other corrections that need to be made?

Are you talking about Longue Pointe Two-Step from Bonsoir Catin? Because I listened to a little bit of that song and it sounds completely different than what you're talking about.

I also looked up Pont Vieux Long on Google and it came up with Le Pont Vieux; an old bridge in France.

Re: Festival Acadien Waltz

You're welcome.
Further the lyrics are the same as the PLB are playing.
Unfortunately I couldn't find the version of Octa Clark and Hector Duhon.

Long Point Two Step is a completely different song.
Because I heard vieux long, I thought immediately long point two step.

The version I know of that song is from Les Amis Creole

Long Pointe is somewhere between Iota and Mowata (LA) (Ye Yaille Chere)
There are many long points :-/

Re: Festival Acadien Waltz

Here is a few changes with explanation

Oh mes cher amis
Vien donc nous rejoind au Parque Girard (the park where they hold Festival Acadien in Lafayette)
Au Festival Des Acadien
Ayou les Cadien vien pour s’amuser

Oh mes cher amis
Vien donc nous rejoind tout Septembre (They use to hold it in September but moved it to October because of the heat)
La plus belle place dan la Lousiane
Au Festival Des Acadien

Re: Festival Acadien Waltz

All of that makes a lot more sense. Thanks, Josh!

I went to Girard Park back in October for the festival. I had a good time. I brought my accordion and jammed with Sheryl Cormier, Jimmy Breaux, Drew Simon, and Jesse Legé.

While I was jamming with Drew Simon, he mentioned that he took the Crawfish Festival Waltz song and wrote Festival Acadien Waltz. He just had to change some of the words. Then, he also said that the very first year that they had the festival, they had it in March. But then, they moved it to September. Then, he told me that they moved it down to October because it was too hot.

Re: Festival Acadien Waltz

Thanks Josh, that's great.

I couldn't hear that if I'm listen to the CD version.
In the booklet that come with the CD they wrote that this waltz was based
on La Valse du Jamboree which was written by Octa Clark.
I have that version on a LP Ensemble Encore
What they sing is for me to difficult :-)
