Box keys Standing Room Step Rideau and others....

Can you kindly advise on that Key box this tune is done in on the album ?

What about Boozoo's Dance all night Johnny Billy Goat.
Also Beau Jocque Nonc Adam.
I'm thinking C box but not sure...
Any suggestions on zydeco tunes that are done on C box ?
Thanks,
PW

I hope it's right.

I hope others can give you tips about songs on a C accordion

Of course you can also this songs on a C accordion ;-)

(Not quite on topic but an extensions of this topic)

Any ideas on when zydeco players started using Bb accordions? I assume two reasons for the change were: 1) saxophone players have an easier time playing in the key of Bb; and, 2) a whole key lower is easier to sing in for most of the men singing and leading the bands.

Re: Box keys Standing Room Step Rideau and others....

Look out Ken! You've hit on a touchy subject with all that b flat talk.

Re: Box keys Standing Room Step Rideau and others....

Well look at you go Melo! Rattling off both the keys of the accordion and the songs like it's second nature to you. I concur with your findings.

Re: Box keys Standing Room Step Rideau and others....

I could "play along" with the songs on the banjo(I know some chords on a banjo) and also with my B-flat accordion after slow down the music of course.
But with those giants you're never sure if they really play on that accordion, because they can play those songs in more than one key on any accordion.
For me it's like, I never know for sure :-)

Re: Box keys Standing Room Step Rideau and others....

With most creole zydeco players....they play on the pull in the 5th key for almost every song in the entire zydeco genre. So yeah,
if its a Bb accordion, they plsy in the 5th key which is "F".
If its an A accordion, they play in the 5th key which is "E".

But us white folks ain't supposed to know that, so shhhhhhhh.
