Marion Marcotte's Lucky Day at the Red Cross in Pointe Aux Chiens

It's never too funny whenever someone tries to explain comedy, but I could use some help translating some of the items Marcotte mentions in the L'eau Haute de Vignt Sept story on my Web site.

The comedy is all in the deadpan serious way he tells it. The scene is that he's about at the point of starvation when he hears that the government has sent the Red Cross to Pointe aux Chiens to give out rations to people at the point of starvation. When he receives the news he doesn't lose time. He gets in his little boat and paddles there to. He says his mind was working right that day because he really succeeded! The Red Cross gave him the following (can't recognize some of them--need help translating)

un charreu (a plow)
un diss (?)
un herse dobe (?
un planteur (a planter)
un ****weez (some tweezers)
des souliers pour tout mes petits (shoes for his kids)
un rat bois maigre (a lean opposum)
des navees (some turnips)
un corset pour ma femme (a corset for his wife)
un cord a linge (a clothesline)
un brosse a dents (a toothbrush)
un ratellier (a pair of false teeth)
un paquet de gomme (a pack of gum)
quarante sous en argent (40 cents!)

et un sac a deux bout, _____________ d'un cote, un pair des chenilles l'autre bord (a sack with two sides, ? on one side and a pair of caterpillars on the other)

Help translating please!
