A recording for you all, please listen

Larry and others,

This recording was done on the $150.00 Morelli (key of D) accordion.

http://bengalrecords.com/jim/BayouTecheOnMorelliAccordion.mp3

The Morelli D is practically the same as an Arriette, but I think it's actually somewhat cheaper in quality than the Arriette.

The recording quality sounds a little crappy and high pitched due to the fact that this is a rough recording, nothing is adjusted. My playing is also a little rough on this cheap box!

Regardless, I still love the sound of this cheap box!

I don't suggest you buy one of these accordions unless you've know how to loosen the stiff buttons. Much harder to do than on any other box I have. Makes you appreciate your handmades! Definately NOT good for beginners either.

Re: A recording for you all, please listen

Very nice! Thanks for doin' dat. Is the key really "D"? Sound like a high F or something. I listen to that tune and I can smell cracklins deep-frying over a woodfire! When you want to sell that box, just drop me a note, brutha...

Re: Re: A recording for you all, please listen

I got mine on Ebay for $150.00. Some adjustments will most likely need to be made to it. Buttons are stiff as hell.

It does sound really high, I think the high end reeds are smaller than your average, gives it a nice tickle.

Cheers

Jim

Jim;

Thanks for sharing... You made me smile. Your Morelli sounds good, 'ol' timey.' And you sound great as well.

Peace,
Griff

Re: A recording for you all, please listen

Jim, this sounds like the Elton two-step to me.
Great song for an "old timey sounding box!

Re: Re: A recording for you all, please listen

I always thought the Bayou Teche sounded like Elton two step, good point!

I might get my Martin tuned like this box. Or maybe my Acadian.

I don't know how long that Morelli will last but I'm addicted to the little cheap thing!

Re: Re: Re: A recording for you all, please listen

I have heard that played as the Bayou Teche two step a few times. I think Wilson just gets rid of the Teche when he plays it and calls it the Bayou two step.
