Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

GREAT Song and GREAT Playing! Hmmmm... in the hands of an accomplished player. even an Ariette can sound good. I'm not actually making a guess, BUT I somehow get the idea that this whole exercise is a trick question.

Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

That´s your Atomic Hohner, isn´t it?

Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

the recording reminds me of an old
basin brothers album, 'let;s get cajun', i think

it had a lot of room sound, natural reverb

this is when errol verrett was their accordionist

i will make a wild guess, for no good reason, and
say an 'evangeline' accordion, or whatever
errol's brand was, when he was making them

wle.

Re: Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

It is one of Marc's boxes, with non-mittered corners, a nice sound nevertheless !!!:).
Should I win, please give my 20 bucks to the Katrina fund, the LA people need it more then most of us on this board.

Claude.

Re: Re: Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

That is the First Act accordion in the hands of an accomplished player

keep guessing :)

No one has guessed it yet Good tries though.

Keep on guessing

Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

Re: Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

That has got to be his 1990's Regal

Re: Re: Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

If not the Regal, then it must be Jim's old Piano Accordion.

Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

It's an old Sidney Brown.

Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

I will try to cheat a little. As I have noticed that you usually put the name of the accordion after the title of the songs you post and that this time it's "cc special" I will answer : a C "Cajun" accordion (made by Elton Doucet).

(The tune is very much like Eddie LeJeune's version of Church Point Breakdown (CD Cajun Spirit, track 1).

Christian

Ok ok

It's a Weltmeister Cajun style accordion. Whoever said Regal was very close

Jim

Re: Ok ok

Jim,

I've got a Weltmeister too .. I should've recognized it.

To me, they sound a little brassy/bright on the top end
and bassy on the bottom .. kind of like some
older Hohner piano accordion to my ears.

Yeah, nice playing dude!

Re: Re: Ok ok

All in all it's not a bad accordion. It does take more effort to make it sound really good, but it has an old sound to it in a way.

Re: Re: Re: Ok ok

The playing was fantastic..as was the song. The box has to sound good being played that way.. but if in the hands of an amature ( like myself! ) I am sure it would sound very unCajun ( not only the playing..but the box itself ! )..

I may be wrong..

Let's here the same song played on a quality LA box??

G.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Ok ok

i just want to hear it on mitered corners

wle.

Re: Ok ok

Jim,
I was the one who said the Regal. If that is the winner, donate the money towards the Hurricane Relief. Now if you still insist on giving something, I'll take the Red C Martin off your hands to give you a little more room

Re: Guess the brand, win 20$ !!

Ok, the murder is out. Give us another one, jim, please.
