Someone recently gave me the CD "Lundi Gras" by Coz Fontenot and the Metro Playboys. It's great, especially the fiddling. Pardon my ignorance, but does anyone know if that's him on the fiddle? Or if not, who is it?
Also -- I've been wondering about this for years -- is he the same as Carl Fontenot, who is credited with some of the vocals on the CD "Oh, Yaille!" by the Mamou Prairie Band?
I met Coz at Savoys a couple years ago and have his Lundi Gras CD with the Metro Playboys. As perviously mentioned, the fiddler was Mick Kinney. He was living on the south part of Eunice then on Jelks St. We hung out with him off and on for a week. He was playing more fiddle then as his accordion was at the pawn shop. If anyone needs a house painted look Coz up. We last saw him at the tribute at the Liberty Theatre for Ken Thibodeaux. We will try and look him up when we get to Louisiana in a few weeks.
He is mentioned on page 175 on Ann's book - with a photo of "Coz's Blue Goose Lounge". I don't think I've ever heard a finer cajun singer.
