innnnnnteresting... I was wondering how he was playing all that on an E. He just HAD to step outside the circle, didn't he?! Thanks for the info!

Re: Re: Re: B-Box

Jason Frey uses a B and a C# instead of a C and D...in other words his accompanying instruments tune down a half step and treat playing with his C# as if they were accompanying a D and treat his B as if he were playing in C. It works really well and makes everything easier on the voice without pitching it too low as some people think a Bb does. I think he spends most of his time on the C# however and only goes to the B for songs that are very high to sing. The only disadvantage is it makes it tougher to play in other more "traditional" keys, for instance if the band would really want to play in the key of C it would be tough without retuning.

Thanks Chris! I wonder if the Jason Frey/Travis Matte disc is in those keys... I'll check it out. BTW, I'll be in LC from Wednesday night 'til Sunday (with a side trip to see Travis in Carencro on Friday.)

--still lovin' your CD... it gets a 10 Budweiser rating on my web site ;)
