Can anyone give me a rough translation of 'Quand j'tais Pauvre', please?
I think I have the gist of it, but not sure about odd lines.
Thanks,

BJ

Re: Translation

When I was poor.

Re: Re: Translation

I think he meant the whole song, as evidenced by "except some odd lines", though I was just about to post exactly what you did.

Re: Re: Re: Translation

Salut BJ. A literal translation would be :

When I was poor.

When I was a young good-looking able man
Nobody wanted me because I was poor.
And then I was lucky I made a lot of money,
Now I can go anywhere, everybody wants to make friends with me.

Although I'm not good-looking,
Although I'm not an able man,
First I made money
And everybody wants to make friends with me.

Thanks Christian, and apologies to Joanie and Dwight for my sloppy phrasing.
I wasn't sure whether argent referred to cash or silver hair.

You heading for Saulieu this year, Christian?

Much appreciated, Christian. I e-mailed Didier to ask about guests, but had no answer. Not that it makes much difference - we'd go no matter who was on. The most fun is the jamming and good company. It's also just a lovely place to spend a few days.

Let's hope we meet up this year.
