Just got off the phone with Larry, and just had to ask him if he had any more accordions left (someone snagged the African Mahogany D he had left). He had some curly maple left, so the accordion gods were nagging at me, I just couldn't resist...
It will be curly maple with walnut stain (dark). Gold hardware, brushed gold flapper covers, black on white leather, with black bellows with a white diamond. Mother of pearl on walnut reed stops. Key of D. OMG.
I can't wait. It will probably be one of Larry's very last. I'm thinking about asking him if he would engrave his name on it somewhere.
How am I going to explain this to the W-I-F-E ?
Oh well, better to die happy with a spare Bon Cajun...
I will post some pictures when I get it.
That's TOO cool, Hal!!! Congrats in advance! Just tell the wife you bought it for her. It works for me everytime. Act like you got your feelings hurt when she says, "why didn't you get me jewelry?!" Insist that she holds it and try to teach her a very difficult tune, oh, let's say "Between Eunice And Opelousas" for example. Be patient. After ten minutes she'll get frustrated and hand it back to you. Tell her you'll take very good care of it for her. Bingo ~ it's yours! Then, you should consider buying "her" a fiddle, ya know...
Congrats on your new Larry MIller. I bought Larry's LAST NINE button from him this past December, key of "C". They are going fast.
Please post your pic!
When I was talking with Larry about what he had left he said "sold the last 9 button finger board awhile back" and I thought of you.... ;)
congrats. You have a collector's item on your hands there bro.
Hal, I am getting my first Bon Cajun this week. I talked to Larry and he said that he should be sending it out Thursday. It is Curley Walnut. I can hardly wait.
walnut curly walnut, or a curly maple with walnut stain? Either way it will be gorgeous, and sound wonderful. Please post some picts when you can.
have fun. But be careful... they become addictive :)
Curley walnut. Larry said the wood was really pretty so I went with it. I'll definitely post some pics.
Congratulations! We spent Mardi Gras with Larry and family, and he is indeed winding down production. At that time he had several in the works, but when they're gone, they're gone. My latest Bon Cajun is Brazilian Rosewood from a piece I located and sent to Larry. I donated the remainder of the wood for the CFMA raffle accordion. If you don't have your raffle tickets, get some....that accordion is a real beauty! Take care all, TeeFer.
Hey TeeFer - how would one purchase a raffle ticket?
Doesn't seem to be anything on the CFMA web site about it.
