I'm still interested in acquiring a Bb - preferably Larry Miller, but other late model, Louisiana made makers would certainly be welcomed...
Resent some info and pics of my Bon Temps by Jude Moreau. Let me know if you're interested.
most people just give up and buy a new one
a. small market anyway
b. people who buy one usually intend to keep it and
c. can afford it
d. for the money you might save, $200-300,
e. you might as well get one made the way want and
f. save 3 years of waiting
g. anything but key of c will be 5 times harder again to find
it might happen for you - but i am cheap as dirt
and even i gave up.
anyone notice the lack of handmade's on ebay?
If anyone is looking to find a great accordion made with a lot of TLC and you will be in town for the Balfa week next week, stop by Floyd's and give Mr. Cecil a holler. He made by new Swallow accordion and did a great job with it. You'll never see this one on Ebay...lol
Joey...could ya take some pictures of it and post it up for us to see please? i have never seen a Swallow accordion.
there are usually 1 or 2 a month
but still, that is what i am talking about -
they usually go for $900-1100, in more or less
You might as well just bite the bullet, call up a builder and order a new one. You could wait for ever for a used one to turn up, and you won't save much $ anyway.
...as always, I'm grateful for the comments...
For the record, I believe forums like this one help develop markets where, just a few years ago, only those of you who live close to the source knew what was available. Yet today, the vast majority of Louisiana builders do not have web sites or published email addresses.
The easy solution for me would be to call a builder and order a new instrument...but, that does nothing for the player who has a Bb that, for any number of reasons, he or she might want to turn into cash...by 'testing' this forum before I make the phone call to buy a new accordion, I like to think I may have helped someone recover most of their costs for a now little used instrument and I end up with a decent Bb...
Yep..agree with David and others...go for a new one with all of the pre and after sales support that goes with it.
I got a ' magic' Bb made by Jude Moreau in Groves, TX.
If you want some photos of it send me an email....I'd stack Judes product up against the best !
