Zydeco volume one the early years

Hello, all,

I was wondering,if anyone would know, what type of accordion (on the cd : Zydeco, the Early Years 1961-1962)) is played by Paul McZiel on cut # 1,2, and especialy # 3.

Thank you much.

Claude.

Re: Zydeco volume one the early years

It's a rough recording. Purely a guess, but it sounds like the same instrument on all 3 tracks, and it doesn't sound like a 4-reed single row instrument to me. Maybe a 2-row or 3-row instrument, based on the range (goes to some high range notes on track 3) and the sound of the reeds. Perhaps a 2-reed instrument? Hard to tell if it's 2 reeds per note, or if the player is hitting octaves. The left hand notes are present but hard to hear; doesn't sound like a 1-row left side to me. Songs are in C (1 & 3) and F (2), which hints at a box with 2 rows.
