Going to Lake Charles in July

Hello Braves,
I am going to Lake Charles on the weekend of July 14. Planning on making the CFMA Festival on the 15 and 16. Any reccomendations on where to eat, and also what to do on that Friday night. Not too familiar with Lake Charles, been there only a few times. Thanks Braves
Marks

Hey Mark!
I'll see you there. I usually go on Saturday afternoon. I don't recall the line-up right now, but I think Chris and the band are playing. There isn't much Cajun music aside from the festival, but Big Daddy's will be kicking about twenty miles east.

Re: Re: Going to Lake Charles in July

All right Ganey! I will see ya there Sat for sure. Hope your youngs one are doing OK. I have heard yall talk about Big Daddy's before, can you give direcitons or an address. If I remember it is just off of I 10, not for sure which exit.
Thanks Ganey

Re: Going to Lake Charles in July

The best Festival in Louisiana this year will be FESTIVAL ACADIENS in girard park. For the first time in its 32 year history it will be in October, the 13th thru the 15th. Should be cooler. Those who have attended in the past can recall the brutal heat in September. The Pine Leaf Boys are already aboard for the festivities. A sad note, Mr. Larry Miller of Bon Tee Cajun accordions will not have a booth this year.

directions for big daddys

hey you wanted directions for big daddys. Ok. Go down I-10 east till you see the Iowa exit take it. Dont turn left over the over pass just go to the right. At the first light you come to you take a left. Go down about 50 seconds and you will see big daddys on your left. Behind it will be a big outlet mall. Dont go in there cause they dont have nothing in it no more they only have like 6 or 7 stores open in there now. And ganey are you still wanting to record?

Re: directions for big daddys

I'll send you an email.

Re: Going to Lake Charles in July

Favorite LC eatery (other than at my In-laws):
Steamboat Bill's. Cheap and good Creole and Cajun dishes. I think there's 2 locations.

Favorite bars (with live music):
Yesterday's
and Wayne and Layne's (in Sulphur).

Best cracklins in the world:
Peto's in Moss Bluff (10 minutes north of I-10/Westlake). They also have the best beef jerky. And very likely -- the best boudin in the entire Pelican State! I ain't lyin'.

I'll be down there to visit family next weekend, so I'll warn everyone about the town being infested with Braves. Have fun!

Rick
