Re: Re: Squeaky button

Do NOT put any type of liquid on the wood, that will only cause swelling and more trouble than just a squeaking button. It might be any number of things causing the sound. Most of the time it ends up being the spring itself that's causing the sound. If it is the piece of wood, I would only suggest taking a pencil and trying to put some graphite in the grove the piece of wood sits in. I'm sure some others on the board will have some other suggestions to help you out.

I agree with John.
First try a little powered graphite.
Available at your locksmith's shop.
Actually, Sears used to sell it in the hardware dept.
(I do not know if they still do.)

Good luck,

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll pick up the powdered graphite. Scott

If you can not find the graphite in Sears, try a locksmith. Some might even help you without charging.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Squeaky button

Any hunting goods store should have graphite, especially one that carries archery supplies. But, as someone said earlier, a lead pencil works too.

Re: Squeaky button

3 in 1 oil works great. It is also good for the 4 stops when they are hard to move up and down. Moderation, a dab will do ya.

Re: 3 in one oil

That reminds me of an old joke about Boudreaux and his wife's triplet babies!

But I'll leave for others to tell...
