Ray Abshire just agreed to do the Saturday, August 5th show at the Earlville Opera House. He's open to giving an accordion workshop that afternoon at $60 per person for an hour-and-a-half session.
If it happens, it might be at around 2:00 PM.
For those of you who don't know, Earlville, New York is in the rural part of Central New York State, kind of in the middle of a triangle bounded by Syracuse, Utica, and Binghamton.
Please let me know if you are interested in this. If y'all don't jump on this, I get him all to myself!
Steve,
Back in '98, I played the Opera House with Balfa Toujours. At 200+ dates per year, it is difficult to distinguish one place from the other, but I remember Earlville. We stayed around the corner and up the hill at a gorgeous estate house. Breakfast was served out at the guesthouse, and there was a two-lane bowling alley in the basement. We had dinner and drinks at the home of our hosts prior to the show. Were you around back then? I apologize if you were the host. Like I said...much of my time with BTJ is a blur.
Ganey - at that time I was a mere audience member, and did not even have an Ariette. My wife worked there part time: now she's the Executive Director.
I remember that show, it was great: one of the events that really pulled me into Cajun music. I think the folks who owned that B&B have left town, but the travelling musicians still get to stay in some nice places.
