Key of F?

I was curious what you do with the bass when playing a C accordion in the key of F.

I realize that the diatonic scale of the accordion limits the availble notes which some use to produce a "Bluesy" sound. But, with only C and G cords availble how do you play the bass side in F?

The C and G bass cords are harmonius with the C and G keys, but I would think that pumping C and G cords during a key of F song would drive the other members of the group crazy.]

What am I missing?

Re: Key of F?

RPr,

You're correct. Playing the bass side when
performing an "F" tune will, indeed, drive
everyone crazy!

Seriously, though, the left side is mostly useless for
other keys besides C/G on a "C" box as well ..
Em, Dm, F, etc.

When in "F", one can find an occasional moment
when your right hand needs a "C" accompaniment,
but I'd say that's about it.

(I've always seen players just stop using the left
hand for keys other than "C"/"G" on a "C" box.)

And, that's my $0.02 worth

Re: Re: Key of F?

you can sometimes use the C bass button [not the
chord] while playing in F, at least the C note
is in the chord F [F A C}

keep in mind that in the key of F, a typical
I-V two chord will switch to C [the V chord].

in that case, your Cs will come off smelling
like a rose.

but the G, either bass or chord, is going to be
pretty far off base [so to speak]

wle.
