I'm attaching an email from Nancy Weston concerning the recent loss of the Miller's granddaughter. As many of you know, Larry is not only a fine accordion builder but an outstanding ambassador of Cajun culture, and a true gentleman.
Friends,
I am sorry to have to pass along this message:
Jackie and Larry's grandaughter, Bailey Renee Miller, age 11, died Wednesday
in a tragic accident involving an off-road vehicle in the woods near their
home. She was the eldest daughter of Larry and Jackie's youngest son, Eric, and
his wife Amy. The funeral was Friday.
Some of you know the Millers better than others. They have been every year
to Cajun/Creole week at Augusta, and many years to the Escoheag/Ninagret
festivals in RI. Larry is an accordion makeer and Jackie is a published
cookbook
author and Mardi-Gras mask maker.
If you want to send a card, the address is 886 McMillan Rd, Iota, LA 70543
Eric and Amy's address is 1376 Tepetate Rd, Basile, LA 70515
I talked to Jackie (they had requested no flowers but the church got hundreds
anyway) and she said if anyone wants to do something to remember Bailey, they
can make a donation to Iota Elementary School (4070 W. Kennedy Ave, Iota, LA
70543) with a note that it is to be used for books for the library, in
memory of Bailey.
Bailey was to start her last year at this school, this coming week. She
said to Grandma Jackie just last week that she hoped that the school got some
new
books over the summer, because she had read every book in the library.
I just got a sympathy card in the mail. I included a couple of photos of my two most very fine Bon Cajuns. Hopefully the understanding of the love and respect that so many have for the gift of his wonderful craftsmanship
will help him and Jackie to endure the pain of such a terrible loss.
