I spoke to Ron Yule who is writing the new book on Iry and asked to please consider including something on the confusing subject of "Iry,Jr." Both he and Ervin LeJeune (for whom the book is dedicated) agreed that it would be good to include something in the book.
Here's a teaser. I copied this from a draft:
Over the years the question has been raised, "Who is Iry Le June, Jr.?" Iry Le June, Jr. was a musician credit noted on two 45-rpm records from the early 1970's. Was he one of Iry's sons? A relative? Was this a pseudo name for secret recordings? Did he even exist? Few have been able to find this mysterious musician. Simply stated, Iry Le June, Jr. is #######.
###### wanted to step out on his own and play Cajun music his own way as a solo act. He set up a recording session and ..., he used the Goldband Studios with the recording being produced by Eddie Shuler. "Lawtell Two Step" and "Love Bridge Waltz" were recorded with Robert Bertrand - fiddle, Ronnie Anderson - drums, and T-June Benoit - guitar.
Without his permission, ####### had been cited on the label as Iry Le June, Jr. ######## recalls this was a promotional effort of Eddie Shuler to sell records, capitalizing on the famous name of Iry Lejeune. ######, ..., did not appreciate Eddie's idea. The conflict between Eddie and ###### over this mislabeling would continue, more was to come...
