Back to Canadian 1-rows

Just catching up after a week away. On the Canadian subject, no-one mentioned keys. So are they the popular Cajun keys?

Irish 1-rows seemed to be mainly G, and the popular key in East Anglia was (and still is, through the trad revival) C.

D and D minor. And they also like D and D minor.

They're fun to play -- the style sounds distinctly Irish to my ear, without the syncopated chops of Cajun playing. Lots more pushing & pulling. It's really amazing to watch.

Re: Back to Canadian 1-rows

John,

The tuning of choice in the province of Quebec, for one rows boxes is D, that is to play Quebec Music.
But as always, since, no one is "perfect" , you could go on the Gagne & Freres web site and either e-mail them with your query, or call them and ask Richard Gagne who is in charge of the accordion section, and he will provide you, with the "Definite" information on your question.
the store has been dealing with accordions since the 1890's
They do provide on their web site a free toll 1.888 number.
Yes, he does speak English, and is very obliging.

Say hello for me.

Hope this helps.

Claude.

PS: I hope that I've not left anything to chance .
