Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

I'm sure it's a BON TEMPS by Jude, Much like my Bb here.

Re: Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

I mean, look at these two lovingly crafted corners on Jude's box, exquisite would'nt you say?,at long last. And such a rare sight, too rare in fact, and to think that there are six more to look at .
Like looking at an old "MONARCH", hein.
Ah, craftsmanship, nothing like it, don't you think.
Lovely, lovely, it really does warm one's old heart, n'est ce pas?.

Thank you Jude and Sambeaux.

BTW,I for one would "NEVER, NEVER" think of re- starting an old debate.

Krrazzy Kaannuck. .

Re: Re: Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

What debate???
syrup on the table

Re: Re: Re: Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

Now, if only I could convince Marc.Savoy to "DEMAND" his frames suppliers, to do the same "Luthier" treatment's details as in Jude's box, then I'll be the first one in ligne to buy one of them. .

Please trust me, the cost of doing a commendable , asthestically pleasing and strictly adhering to century old crafstmanship techniques ,is to say the least, very negligeable.

Then the old saying " Crafted in Louisiana" would, in my humble views, really apply.

K.K.

Re: Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

Jude puts a unique scroll design on the corners. Anyone know what it signifies?

Re: Re: Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

Ecrevettes?.

Re: Re: Re: Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

Thats what I thought when I first looked, but the harder I looked, the less I thought so.

Is that the word used for shrimp in Canada? I knew that is the word used across the ocean. Down here we say "chevrettes". Wonder where the difference came from.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

How about, Crawfish in a stylised form?, same family or "Ecrevisse " for French!.
Or " Louisiana Crayfish" as the scientific term applies.

Jude, stop laughfing at us .

Help.

Re: Re: Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

Bryan,
The corner scrolls are different on my accordions because, I wanted to be different
I was told that the scroll design on most of the other brands, were a copy of the scrolls on the old Sterlin accordions. For many years, an engraving machine was used to engrave the scrolls and logo. It required that large brass plate be made with the logo and scrolls. The engraving machine "copied" the plate. The same type machine, on a smaller scale, is used to engrave on jewlery. I think they are called "copy engravers".
When I first started building accordions, I found a small shop that sold trophies ( like for ball teams and the like). The lady who owned the shop advertised "ENGRAVING", so I inquired about having her do my accordion face plates. She came up with the design of my corner scrolls, and it's been that way ever since.
So, there it is.
Jude

Re: Re: Re: Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

Well, I applaud you for being different. They look good. What are they, I cant make it out in the picture. My first thought were crawfish or shrimp, but not sure.

I had wondered about those Sterling and Monarch scrolls. Anyone know what that symbolizes, if anything? Just curious.

Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

let's not start knocking my ACADIAN again, lol

Re: NEW BonTemps for sale!

Since we're comparing corners here's my "D". Mitre might not be the quality of one of Judes boxes but I love 'em both.
