Hello... Awhile ago I sent out feelers to get the lyrics to Beausoleil's "Les Flammes D'enfer". A few of you sent me your copies of the lyrics from other artists, and for this, I thank you very much. Further, in my quest in search of Beausoleil's version of lyrics for Les Flammes D'enfer, I have been unsuccessful. Beausoleil's version seems to have at least one extra verse than any other version that I have seen to date. I am a frenchman albeit a Canadian frenchman, and the cajun twang seems to ba a bit beyond my capabilities to decipher. I have tried to contact Beausoleil and some of their individual members..... via websites etc, but cannot seem to find a contact. I know that they guard their privacy well and so they should, but I wonder if anyone knows how to contact Beausoleil,....or Jimmy Breaux. My only objective is to get the lyrics, and maybe some time down the road, perhaps get a few lessons from Jimmy the next time I visit Cajun Country.
Harlan : Many thanks. I had kept an eye on the responses for awhile. When it went far down the list, I lost site of any new responses. Thank you so much for the lyrics. When I read them they seem to jive well with what I hear on he song. I was just not confidant that what I was hearing was correct. One question. Do you know what ..... canailler .... means? It's never been part of my french vacabulary.
It's a pleasure to hear the cajun accent and the words like canaille not so familiar to the french we know in Canada.
Cajun french sounds more like Acadian french (not surprisingly) than Québec french.
But Cajun french sounds to me more like Quebec french than the european accents.
I hope cajun french hangs around for a long time to come, it's such a rich language.
