If it's a LA or Tx handmade you will not need to remove the keywire. The springs are coiled extension springs under the edge of the keyboard. If it's chinese well??

i made the mistake of buying the box off of e bay not knowing what the best were. i just knew after listening to several cajun bands that i wanted to learn to play that addictive sounding box i have grown to love!

No matter what kind you bought. First remove the keyboard from the accordion then proceed from there. If you can remove all the springs before removing the axle. From the there its pretty straight forward as to what to do next.
