A few years ago the Hackberry Ramblers played in Europe.
I have seen them in Holland and France.
The accordeon of mister Edwin Duhon has four buttons on the bass side.
So he could play more bass-chords (maybe).
It's for me not clear wich bass-chords(notes0 he could play on his accordeon.
If it's a C-box, he could play the C and the G and maybe also other.
For instance a A,D,E or a F ????
I know a box-builder who have build boxes with more then the usual bass-buttons on a one row accordeon.

This accordion was built by Mr. Ortego (Master Accordions of Lake Charles) who used incorporated on this newly built accordion the four button mechanism from the left end of an old hohner one row box. The top two buttons are just like the two buttons on a Cajun accordion...C bass and C chord on the push and G bass and G chord on the pull. The bottom two buttons are F bass and F chord both on the push and the pull. I have played this accordion...very nice. In fact, I had Mr. Ortego help me design a retrofitted one row hohner with 8 bass buttons on the left side...I still have it today.

How are the buttons arranged on the box with eight bass-buttons?

It's usual to have eight bass-buttons on a two-row accordeon.
Here they use mostly two row accordeons with a C and a F row or A/D or G/C.
That's different then the Irish players use.

It is a C one row accordion

I have 2 buttons just like a regular one row (c on push and g on pull)

all the other pairs are the same push or pull--no difference--F pair, D pair, and G pair. If I redo it, I will change the C/G pair to a C both ways. It works great and makes for a very smooth accompaniment even though you have to push and pull for alot of changes on the treble side---the bass remains correct for the chord changes of the song.

How old is that accordion Chris? have any idea.

it is about 19 years old (mine). Mr. Duhon's is older...probably at least 25 years old.
