Re: Zydeco teacher, especially Boozoo

Yeah especially Boozoo's work sometimes is the same lick over and over.

Re: Re: Zydeco teacher, especially Boozoo

that is called 'hypnotic dance groove'

wle.

Re: Re: Re: Zydeco teacher (dance groove)

That reminds of something from long time ago. Small group of people were sitting in a circle playing away (old time fiddle tune, but same principle). A guy stopped to listen for a while, and finally said 'That tune doesn't go anywhere, does it?" One one the musiicians responded. "Doesn't have to. It's all ready there."
Ah, the groove tunes!

Re: Zydeco teacher, especially Boozoo

I never thought about it that way Larry

Re: Re: Zydeco teacher, especially Boozoo

sometimes the accordion player in a zydeco band does play what would be monotonous, if heard
alone

but the rest of the band, guitar, drums,
and especially the bass, can be
improvising up[ a storm over the basic
chords [or chord]

so just because the accordion seems
to drone on, consider that that isn;t the
only thing going on in the band

even if the whole band isn;t varying a lot,
it can still be good for people to DANCE
which is the real function of zydeco anyway

sometimes it;s even better if it;s totally
unchanging - it can induce dance trance

wle.
