Oh, y yaie, cher tit monde,
Catin, mets-toi à voir,
Bien à jongler, ça t'as fait.
C'est pas la peine que tu te lamentes,
Viens donc me chercher,
y yaie ton papa va me dire
je peut pas aller t'après
Oh, tit fille,
c'est tous les soirs, je me couche
J'embrasse mon oreiller
des fois en jonglant
Faire des accroires que ça serait toi,
qui serais là,
Mais tout je peux voir,
tu t'en reviendrais pas me voir.

I don't know if it's the original words??

Re: Re: Lyrics for Tante Aline (Viens me chercher)

Tante aline's waltz was recorded by Dennis Mcgee and Sady Courville. It's available on one of the two discs that are out, the white and blue one I think.
Also listen to Parting waltz on the Cheese Read Cd and Orphans waltz on the Balfa yellow album.
They are all related. Hell, they are almost note for note the same song only different lyrics and keys.
My favorite waltz to play on fiddle by the way!

Hi Maz
You should really get Anne Savoy's book 'Cajun Music-Reflections of a People". or also Raymond Lafleur's Book, because you'll find so many lyrics in them. There are 2 versions of Iry Lajeune lyrics to "Viens me Chercher", I believe. I could send them to you when I get back to Montreal. I love Dewey Balfa's version of Viens M'Chercher, by the way. It's the one I know by heart. If you are interested I could write it down.
Bonne Annee mon cher.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Lyrics for Tante Aline (Viens me chercher)

I am guessing you mean Raymond Francois' book "Ye Yaille Chere", though I think Raymond Lafleur has a better ring to it, lol.

Where did you hear a version by Dewey? I dont think I ever heard that one, its hard not to like anything Dewey sings.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Lyrics for Tante Aline (Viens me chercher)

i think the reference with dewey is orphan's waltz?

That's right -the Valse d'Orphelin by Dewey Balfa
It's the same tune but different words - the emotion is beautiful
The strange thing is the words almost sound overly sentimental
but the voice carries it off and makes it all believable.
Sorry about the misnomer on the Raymond E. François book.
