Re: looking for cajun band

All I can tell you is that at our CFMA dances here in San Antonio each month we hire a band out of LA, with the exception of Cory McCauley, who now lives in Katy, TX, but is originally from Mamou. His toll free is 800-359-4358, fax 713-968-3200, e-mail: cory.mccauley@morganstanley.com. After he has finished play his gig, he can do some financial planning for you. His wife accompanies him on rhythm guitar and he brings along a drummer and a fiddle player. There is a local band called the Flames of Red ( Les Flammes du Rouge, or close) Try calling Sheri Foster at 210-444-0787. Sheri plays accordion, plus they have a bass, fiddle, and rhythm guitar. Also try calling Bill Rosenthal at 210-725-3172. He used to play with the Swamp Angels, but I don't know what he is doing now. If you have to settle for a Country & Western that has a real good grasp of the Cajun beat, try The Countrymen. Gary Trial plays a mean fiddle and my cousin Al Michalczak is on the steel. They have been together longer than dirt and can get 'em up and dancing. Call Gary at 210-433-3351 or Jaime at 210-366-0047. I can fill in on accordian for 4 or 5 songs ( ones that I know) if they let me, which ain't too often.

Re: Re: looking for cajun band

Just north and west of San Antonio is a good friend of mine and his band, Zydeco Blanco (zydecoblanco.com)

I wouldn't call them Cajun -- but they do a hybrid of Cajun, zydeco, country and rock. Great band...

Re: s suire

Amen to The Gulf Coast Playboys out of Austin. They also play at our SA Antonio CFMA dances, but just plain forgot about them. Zydeco Blanco played at the Fredericksburg Crawdad Festival and thet were pretty good, too.
Looks like your buddy has plenty of choices.
