1980's or early '90's TV Documentary on Cajun Music
Many years ago I watched a documentary on PBS or whatever TV station that featured some fiddler from England or Ireland jamming with Michael Doucet, D.L. Menard, Marc Savoy, et al, plus a visit to the Savoy accordion workshop. Had lots of good music, it seems, plus some Cajun history and a pretty good look, perhaps a bit idealistic, at Cajun life, including cooking gunbo in the backyard, etc., etc. Anybody know which video I am talking about, and any leads on where to find a copy on the web? Thanks.

Thanks for all the info. Looks like if I want to see that video in its entirity will have to buy it. Can't get a direct stream of the whole thing, but the clips and links ya'll provided were very helpful.

Very little makes me homesick like that Alan Lomax video does. He does take some liberties with his own conclusions, but the footage is priceless. Outsiders saw way before we did the value of recording what we all took for granted. Though I have most documentaries on cajun culture, this is my favorite, even got a greatgrandfather and ex-girlfriend on it.

Bryan,
is L'Anse Griese Pronounced Lance ( like in Sir Lancelot) Gree-zay or Grease eh?
Congradulations on getting ya'll kids interested in more than Game-boy.
Sounds like they had almost as much fun as the grown-ups.
