While checking into Neal's samples, I called the company numbers to check on cd availability or download info. La Louisianne told me they plan on having their songs available for download this summer. A very confused girl at Floyds told me about Flattown downloads (link #3), which I didnt know about. It is pretty limited. She didnt know anything about a Joe Bonsall cd.
Neal, do you know of that music you have in samples being available other than by records? I was bugging Cecil at Floyds last year about doing a Joe Bonsall and Jim Olivier (among others) cd, and he told me they are supposed to.
Bryan, I am not sure what you are asking. Even so, you may want to look at the discography of Swallow 45s linked above. It has reissue information, lp and cd. No info on cassettes. No info on download services. The record companies themselves should have that information. Good luck finding this music.
Bryan and I clarified this between ourselves offline. I thought I would share with you the gist of our discussion.
I posted those samples so that people can hear the music, even if only 30 seconds' worth. They are not a sign that I know someone is going to release the songs in full. I did not post them for the sake of the record companies as advertisement.
I hope that they DO start releasing full songs for download, or on CD. We've got to be optimistic but realistic at the same time, in my opinion. It is a very small market for Cajun music.
