something else that;s cheaper than new accordions

[i posted this in the 'what key
should i get?' thread, but
i'm reposting, to try and
get something actually related
to music, near the top of the
list...]

harmonicas

every button box player should learn
at least some harmonica

you already mastered the hard part -
the part that is most illogical -
the in/out thing for different notes

most of the holes on the harmonica directly
correspond to the buttons of the accordion

with only a little practice, you can
play things that amaze much more experienced
harp players - because playing actual
melodies is usually considered 'advanced'

[usually harp players just learn some
bends and chords on the low end at first, and
some manage to never really learn
the notes on the upper end]

you will be able to do it almost right away

so if there is some song your guitar player
wants do in B, just get and E harp and go
for it

it;s different from accordion

chords are much harder

bends are possible

the hard part is figuring out
how to just play one note at a time

no one can really show you
how to do it, you have to figure
it out yourself

but once you do, it;s $20 for
a new key, not $2000

Re: something else that;s cheaper than new accordions

For some reason, the accordion has been easier for me to pick up a tune on than the harmonica, and thats not saying the accordion has been easy. My wife always tells me my mouth dont work too good, she must be right again.

Re: Re: something else that;s cheaper than new accordions

yeah but i learned to save $1980 x about 4 other keys!

i like playing on my F, G, D, A, and E harps
i even have C and Bflat too
those are the easy [translate - really cheap]
to find harps

for some reason the so called flat and sharp keys
tend to be available only in official hohner
models, marine band for instance, for about $25

the others you can get in chinese versions that
sound good [hohner hot metal brand for instance]
for $8-10
