Cobalt River Accordion

Has anybody ever heard of a Cobalt River Accordion? There is one on ebay close to me in Atlanta.

Could be good to learn on until I get a handmade.

Re: Cobalt River Accordion

I know someone that has one out here. They are "ok", not sure how they relate to Arriette. There is something odd about their pivot mechanism. Seems like the more you push down on the button, the harder it gets. It was somewhat annoying. Kinda wheezy too.

Re: Re: Cobalt River Accordion

Dwight one of our jammers has one. Wetter than all get out and you are right about the buttons. His broke a spring and now he is using a rubber band for a spring.

Re: Re: Re: Cobalt River Accordion

Yeah, I know. George. Now I remember the rubber band. At least he can say he has his own band now.

Thanks yall.

I think I will hold out for something better. If anybody knows of a good used one for sale let me know

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Cobalt River Accordion

What is your upper limit on bucks? I don't have anything to sell, but there's a local accordion shop that has some Weltmeisters that might suffice, but they're like $600.

However, I say what I always do, hold out for a LA Handmade.

Another route would be to get one of those First Act toy accordions from Walmart or Toys 'R Us. Surprisingly good for not much dough. I even have a booklet on playing come cajun tunes on one of those that I could send you.

For something to learn on I would spend $500-$700.

After growing up in Lafayette La, I have a feeling nothing is going to satify me except a Handmade.

If you're going to spend that much, and can swing it, just go the whole way. Talk to Larry Miller or Jude Moreau. Larry's retired, but his grandson took over.
