My new box from Ed Poullard arrived Monday, and it's a beaut, for sure. Curley maple with a golden stain on the main parts, end plates in natural curley maple-very light- for a nice contrast. Flat metal buttons, black and red bellows, black trim, plays like a dream, oh yeah! I have a great picture of it with my two Bon Cajuns, but in spite of Big Nick's post, I can't figure out how to post it. And yes, I'm up for a Midwest Accordion Summit in or around Chicago!
I'll post the picture in the header, but have been too busy at home to do it. Hopefully will find a few minutes tomorrow morning before I go to work. Congratulations! NICE box!
Wow. Now that sounds like my kind of box. Sorry, but I just don't go for some of the funky color combinations. Just can't beat that natural wood grain IMHO. Can't wait for the pictures.
Uh, Midwest Accordion Summit? Is that for real or still a figment of your imagination? I would be up for that either way. I'm in Montana but have family in midwest so could talk my wife into the trip. Lot easier to get to than LA but MUST do that some day soon.
Hey Hal, on the box on the left in the current board photo, what is the wood, what is the stain, what is the face-plate made of. Looks like a burl veneer. Nice looking box. Reminds me of tobacco, but in a good way!
That's curly walnut all around, walnut stain. According to Larry it was his last piece of walnut he had before he retired. Love it. Plays like butter. So smooth and sweet sounding. I could play it all day every day.
